‘How Deep How High’ play, essentially, jazz music. For them jazz is a starting point and a motivational tool that glues together three distinct musical personalities. Being more accurate, their style could be described as “crossover jazz”, which means various musical influences that define each member of the group, from childhood to present artistic endeavours, all mixed together through a jazz aesthetic.

The ‘depth’ and ‘hight’ referenced in the name stand for metaphorical and symbolic concepts that oppose each other but also remain deeply connected, providing artistic stimulation as well as borders of expression for the artists during their musical process.

The band was founded during the COVID-19 pandemic of 2020 by Thanos Bekas (electric bass), Dimitris Ventourakis (keyboard) and Sokratis Tsentoglou (drums). With diverging influences and musical experiences, they formed a - rocky at first - partnership, which resulted in a unified, personal sound that is defined by a constant process of communication and cooperation.

Thus formed the concept and the name of the album ‘A Constant State of Conversation’. What is represented here is the potential of every musician to work individually and as part of a unit, without abandoning their musical identity. This expressional freedom is strongly signified by a variety of influences appearing in the album, ranging from jazz, to hip-hop and funk to rock, progressive and post rock and experimental tendencies.
